Driving down Highway 105 in Conroe, Texas, something caught my eye — a weathered 1952 grain truck resting quietly off to the side of the road. Its tires were flat and its paint faded, a sure sign it had been sitting there for years. Still, there was something about it. In that instant, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with that old beauty.
The first challenge was simple on paper — getting the truck home. In reality, it turned into quite an adventure. We showed up ready to haul our 1952 grain truck, only to realize the trailer we brought was too small. So, after a 100-mile round trip to grab a bigger trailer, we finally got her loaded up. As we pulled onto the highway, the sun was setting behind us — and just like that, the first leg of our journey began.
From the seller’s lot, we hauled the truck to a friend’s place nearby. With his help, we stripped off the bed and hydraulic lift — one more step closer to bringing this old beauty back to life. Then, with everything secured, we hit the road for the best stop of all: home sweet home.
Once the truck was home, that’s when the real fun began. We dug through years’ worth of treasures and started decking it out with everything that caught our eye. If it reminded us of the good ol’ days, you could bet it found a place on that truck. Even Mr. Rooster made an appearance.
